We entered into a contract with James Smith and Absolute Contracting Inc. in the spring of 2017 for a major renovation to our home. He was referred to us by a friend and neighbour who had used him on more than one job and spoke very highly about the quality of his work.

We met with James to discuss our “vision” and desires for the renovation project – enlarging the kitchen and main floor bathroom, as well as adding a new gas fireplace in the living room, and re-doing the shower in the basement washroom and a new floor in the laundry room. With his years of experience, James was able to confirm what was possible within the budget we had to work with. Working together with his original designs, we ended up with a plan that met all of our expectations. He even came up with a wonderful idea to turn closet space into a makeup area as part of the new bathroom.

He directed us to retailers he had used where we had freedom and time to select materials and colours for our floors, fixtures, cabinets etc. within the agreed-to budget.
The contract clearly articulated everything that James and his company would do, and what our responsibilities were. The project started on time as he had promised and all of the trades that James utilized were top notch professionals. They were not only proficient in their work, but very pleasant and easy to deal with. At the end of every work day, they made efforts to clean up and leave the site as clean as possible. We were advised ahead of time of the work schedule and workers always showed up when they were supposed to.

As with any major renovation project, issues did come up, which James worked at to resolve to our satisfaction. He always promptly returned phone calls or emails. We were able to move back into our home at the agreed upon time, although some minor items remained to be cleared up. In the end, the project was completed to our complete satisfaction and within budget. We are very happy with the end result and are fully enjoying our new home.

The guy who did our house was James Smith, Absolute Contracting. What I like about James is that he is not the most expensive but is also not the cheapest. He provides a schedule and was on budget and on time. He has very trustworthy tradesman that he has used for years that do amazing work. His team is polite, on time, respectful honest, and clean up after themselves every day. We trusted them with our home and never worried about theft.

James is particular and is focused on the quality of his work. He is very honest. For example, when the bricks were being put back on the house, there was a flaw that Ben and I didn't see. This letter is to tell you how completely impressed my husband (Charles) and I were with Absolute Contracting Inc. We started working with James in early spring on designing our kitchen. The moment that I met James, I knew I wanted to work with him on this project. He was very professional and early for our meeting. He asked us what our budget was and what we wanted out of the kitchen design. When we said that we were open for suggestions, his eyes lit up like a kid in a candy store. When I first saw the design, I was skeptical that it made sense, but my gut told me to go with it. I haven’t looked back from that moment. James and every sub-contractor that he used were very professional from the minute that they stepped on to our property. When we came across a couple of snags with our kitchen, James immediately dealt with the situations and kept us in the loop with everything that was happening.

Out of all the contractors that I have dealt with in my 26 year career in the food industry, I would refer James to anyone before I would refer any of the others. He answered emails promptly and returned calls quickly.

Our project was slated to take 5 weeks. We were doing a total kitchen revamp. I was totally impressed that the job was done early, on budget and we were extremely satisfied. You hear so many horror stories about kitchen renos that are supposed to take 5 weeks that take 5 months. Or your budget was X and you ended up paying XYZ. Not the case with Absolute Contracting Inc.

A few years ago, James Smith of Absolute Contracting did a Reno of our kitchen. He was awesome at taking our vision and turning it into a workable plan. He worked with our budget, made suggestions regarding practicality and design and the end result made us very happy.
